1. Senga Bay

Senga Bay is a popular tourist destination located on the southern coast of Lake Malawi. Senga Bay is located in Salima, Malawi, about 120 kilometers to the north of the capital Lilongwe.

This bay is famous for its beautiful beaches and clear sea which make it the perfect place to relax. There’s a local fishing village around, where we can see the lives of people in the area very closely. The best time to visit Senga Bay is during the dry season from May to October. It’s a warm and dry time. Even so, Senga Bay can be visited all year round even during the rainy season from November to April, the temperature remains warm and the scenery is lush.

2. Nkhata Bay

Nkhata Bay is a small port located at the northern end of Lake Malawi. Mangochi now has many historical monuments since the early 20th century, including a clock tower built to commemorate Queen Victoria and a Hotchkiss, Lake Malawi patrol gunboat from 1889-1940, brought from Gwendolen. There are also museums and modern Catholic cathedrals in the city. This area is home to a variety of wildlife and birds, making it a popular destination for nature lovers.

When is the best time to go to Mangochi?

The perfect time to visit Mangochi is during the dry season, which starts between May and October. During this period, it will be hot and warm with a little rain. It is suitable for outdoor activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and wildlife viewing. The popular time for tourists is from June to September.

4. Likoma Island

Inside the vast beautiful Lake Malawi lies the beautiful island of Likoma, located north of the lake. The small island covers about 17 square kilometers. It is like a hidden gem. It has a beautiful beach with crystal clear sea water and an impressive sunset view.

Although the island is small, Likoma is full of culture, history, and charming natural beauty. The famous place in Likoma is St. Peter’s Cathedral which has the same size as Winchester Cathedral in England. In addition, the island has a vibrant local community and many beautiful beaches.
