Swahili Pizza

It’s a pizza that looks like pancakes, but this is actually a dough wrapped with spices, meat, vegetables, desserts such as avocados and squid, or lobster and melty cheese. Urojo or Zanzibar mix is a street food in Zanzibar, usually sold on Stone Town Market Street. This menu is a combination of two cultures which are African and Indian. This smooth yellow fine meat soup is made of mashed potatoes mixed with chili, and garlic, or in some places add a little coconut and mango then add bhajis (fried vegetable snack) and kachori (deep-fried potato balls) as toppings.

Chips Mayai (Chips omelet)

Chips Mayai in Swahili, Mayai means egg and chips are French fries. The tasty menu is made from eggs and potatoes cut into bars or French fries, then seasoned with salt and pepper and fried into a delicious French fries omelet. This menu is usually commonly sold in street food shops and all restaurants. It is a snack usually eaten with chili sauce or with salad.

Seafood

Eating seafood is a certain thing that you have to do once you visit beaches. The seafood here is varied, including octopus, splendid squid, calamari, shrimp, clams, lobsters, crabs, oysters, and fish. Most of them are seasoned with coconut curry and may be boiled or roasted on a hot charcoal stove to make the meat juicy, or seasoned with various flavors at each place. Mishkaki (Zanzibar Kebab)

In eastern Africa, you can see Mishkaki on every street corner. It can be called a popular street food. Mishkaki is made of meat such as chicken, beef, and lamb, cut into small pieces, seasoned with spices, and roasted on a hot charcoal grill like a barbecue. Just smelling it can make your mouth water.

Mandazi (Zanzibar Donut)

If you come to Stone Town, you’ll notice Mandazi, a dough-fried donut on every corner. This Zanzibar donut has a triangle shape and is fried just like a doughnut but it adds a difference by adding spices such as bay Leaf to add more flavor. It is usually served with jam or honey or some eat this donut with curry. Mandazi is popular to eat with coffee or tea at various cafes.
